Measurements

“2 Here indeed, in this [present abode, body], we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over [we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out] with our heavenly dwelling,So that by putting it on we may not be found naked (without a body)” (2 Corinthians 5:2-3)

If we wanted to have our clothes made instead of purchasing them at a retail store but not able to sew them ourselves, we would have to hire a seamstress or a tailor.  They would then take and make a record of all our body measurements so that whatever they design and make would be the perfect fit for us.

How many Christians try to measure the bible to fit them instead of taking measurements of themselves to be fitted by the bible. They decide the fit is just too tight and start ripping it out at the seams. The word of God is never worn baggy.  Usually when people wear baggy garments it is to hide something they don’t want others to see. No matter how baggy you try to wear the word of God, nothing is ever hidden from Him, “And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:13). The Lord’s pattern and design that He outfits us in is a one size fits all.  It clothes our hearts (spirit) for a perfect fit.  Any flaws are mended when we go for a fitting, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).  When you are clothed by the measurements of the word it never wears out or get dirty you can wear it every day.  The pattern (bible) may start to get worn from daily use of checking and mending but never the outfit, “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; 17 thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  When you go out clothed in the Lord, others will take notice and want to know where you got it and you can take them right to your tailor, Jesus.
