“I call on heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have presented you with life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, so that you will live, you and your descendants,” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
There is a game show on television called Let’s Make a Deal. The original host of its start in the early seventies, Monty Hall, recently passed away. The contestants were given options sometimes to choose doors. In the final part of the show they had an option to pick between three doors and one of those doors would be the big deal. Sometimes they would show you part of what was hidden behind the door just to entice the decision process. When the lure of that partial enticements leads the contestant to that door, it sometimes opened to what the game calls a ‘zonk’ and the contestant then realizes they choose the wrong door.
The Lord is making an offer of two doors life or death. The door that leads to death is the same as the games show. The devil lures with enticements and deceptions appealing to the eyes, flesh, and pride, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” (1 John 2:16). When the person chooses that door and once the enticements are moved out of the way they discovered they have been zonked. Behind that door is heartache, pain, disease, torment, and a life with an end of death and hell. When you choose the door of life, the Lord doesn’t lure with partial enticements and deceptions. The door of life is wide open to all and you can plainly see the enticement and drawing is an offer of love and a life that is eternal and spent forever with a loving Father, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). In the game Let’s Make a Deal someone walks away a loser. Everyone can be a winner when they choose the door life option. The life door will always be the big deal. Even the Host, the Lord, gives you a hint by exposing the ‘life’ door and telling you what it really hidden behind the enticements and deceptions of the ‘death’ door. Just in case the contestants still don’t get it, He goes as far to tell you what door to choose, CHOOSE LIFE!
