5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Years ago, artist Bill Withers had a hit song titled Lean on Me, which in some circumstances it’s still popular today. In the refrain of the song it says, “Lean on me when you’re not strong and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on for it won’t be long til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on.” The song also ends with a bridge, “You just call on me brother, when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on. I just might have a problem that you’ll understand. We all need somebody to lean on” with a continual tag of “call me.”
No one could ever fit the mold of that song as brother and friend than Jesus. You would never have to remember the number or wait for Him to come over because He said He would never leave us nor forsake us, “……He [God]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (Hebrews 13:5b AMPC). This is a true promise that we can trust in and have full confidence because we know that He hears us, (1 John 5:15). No matter what you are going through, how horrific the issue or problem you are facing, we serve a loyal Friend who understands and has all the answers, “He instructed me and made me understand; he talked with me and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give you skill and wisdom and understanding” (Daniel 9:22).The Lord is saying call on ME, I will answer, I understand everything you are going through, I can help you with your spiritual walk, just LEAN ON ME.
