Don’t Forget the Blood

on

“19 Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom and confidence to enter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood of Jesus, 20 By this fresh (new) and living way which He initiated and dedicated and opened for us through the separating curtain (veil of the Holy of Holies), that is, through His flesh, 21 And since we have [such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house of God.” (Hebrews 10:19-21)

There are different things in life that we do that require us to make a check-list to ensure nothing is forgotten.  If we leaving to catch an international flight, we make sure that we have our passport; before we get into our cars we make sure we have our driver license; the grocery store list you make to replace an item that you are low on or out of; and to make sure that all the ingredients have been added to your favorite recipe, to just name a few.  There are many more things we do in preparation to function in life, but do we try entering the Holy of Holies to God’s Glory without the blood of Jesus?  “But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood,….” (Hebrews 9:7a NIV).   Peter said that we are chosen people of royal priesthood (1Peter 2:9) so we have the same privileges now as the priest did in the old testament.  Just as the high priest could then, we also now can enter the Holy place of God. They had certain criteria’s they had to follow or it would be to their detriment.  The veil is now torn and we have been given access through(Hebrews 4:16),  Jesus our High Priest.  After He died on the cross and rose again, He then took and offered His blood to the Father in the heavenly alter. It still doesn’t allow us a fleshly entrance.  We can only enter by the blood of Jesus and we can only enter in by His flesh.  It is Christ’s righteousness and blood that covers us and that is what God sees when we come boldly before His throne “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13 ESV).

There’s a worship song that says “You are Holy, oh so Holy, what a privilege and an honor to worship at Your throne, to be called into Your presence as Your own.”  We know that we have that privilege because we have been washed and cleansed in the precious blood of His Son, Jesus, and when we enter into the Glory of His Presence that’s what He sees.  He has adopted blood covered sons and daughters.  Let’s make that step into God’s Glory that He so  longs for us to experience, but as we enter in, don’t forget the blood.
