He said to her, “You must go, and you must call your husband, and come to this place.” The woman answered and said to Him, “I do not have a husband,” Y’shua said to her, “You said correctly that ‘I do not have a husband.’ (John 4:16-17)

How many jokes and laughter has gone out about the number of times Elizabeth Taylor had been married?  There are some men and women in the body of Christ that don’t really see any humor in it at all.   They are so familiar with the procedures of attending many weddings for themselves, their resume could include wedding planner.  King Solomon said there wasn’t anything new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9).  He was correct, before there was Elizabeth Taylor, there was Photina, the woman at the well.  I’m sure when Jesus let her know about the five husbands she had married and the honorable mentioned of her current boyfriend, neither saw a good comedy script. This meeting at the well was such an inner-  healing and transformation in the life of Photina.  When she went to the well to get natural water she ended up receiving Living Water of eternal life (John 4:14).  It helped her see her own issues and brokenness that caused her to marry so many times and then start shacking up.  She could destroy her pro and con check list of all the issues with men after realizing it was her own brokenness that attracted her to them.

In my book, The Holy Temple of God, I talk about how if we allow the Lord to heal us of our brokenness, we can come together as spouses two whole individuals not bits and pieces. We can let the Living Water heal and wash away the bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, and other issues holding us back from our relationship with God.  Just like Photina we can run to town and say “come see a man.” When we allow Jesus to meet us at the well, just like Photina, we can make an impact for the Kingdom of God.  She went on to be a great apostle for Jesus.  She was instrumental in bringing salvation to her family, her sons, and many other lives.  She became a martyr who made such a loud impact that she so infuriated Nero and he had her thrown into an empty well.  Let’s hear testimonies of silver and gold anniversaries again. This is doable if we men and woman have the meeting at the well and say NO MORE WEDDING DRESSES!
